Dressed in cocoa, shaking from caffeine and nerves, looking into bright, complex eyes I can imagine myself staring into those eyes from many angles, in many moods, Sunlight stokes them, and their shadowed embers still burn A planet is born - with a star and a moon and an atmosphere The spectrum of colors that makes life more than a movie, the reason an emoji is more than an emoji Compose for me, inner child The one they say survived See the world the way I can't Now that I've grown a while Sing for us, and tell us how The little prince was right. How beauty's not the shooting star The beauty is the night After twice again we've met, I hear a melody. Surely playing all the time But just now reaching me It's monotone; its blaring notes Though pure at first, complex And in me stir and calmly pass The things I'd once expect
Dressing again in yesterday's clothing, From across the room I see an exhibit, a study of nature versus nurture, I see a planetarium, a map of constellations painted on a triangular canvas Let newness place a stamp my passport of multitudes. Let it send me along, more complex and well-traveled than before. Dressed in bright cottons, feeling the world not as described, but as it is.
